Smörgås Chef West Village is the latest of our three restaurants and is located on a beautiful cobblestone street in the heart of the West Village.


Zagat Survey 2006 says Smörgås Chef Restaurant is "a refreshing change of pace", and Village Voice claims the food is "Damn Good".

Meatballs with Lingonberries and mashed potatoes have become famous. The New York Post calls Smörgås Chef the "Swedish Meatball Mecca" of New York. Smörgås Chef has also become known for its roasted rack of lamb with a goat cheese Sherry sauce, and its oven-baked Cod from the Kenai Peninsula (see menu).


For lunch, you will find a smorgas board of open-face Scandinavian sandwiches like Coldwater Shrimp, Smoked Salmon with Egg & Chives, and Chicken Caramel with Norwegian goat cheese and asparagus. For weekend brunch, enjoy Scandinavian Baked Eggs with a chantarelle hollandaise, Eggs Benedict, Burgers, and Vanilla Waffles.


Smörgås Chef Midtown is located near the United Nations in the Turtle Bay area. Slightly smaller than the West Village location, Our Midtown location is located on the busy corner of 49th and 2nd avenue and has a wrap-around sidewalk cafe.
